What did the people of Jahiliyyah do to their daughters? Mention the evidence.
الجواب الكامل (باللغة العربية)
من مساوئ الجاهليين أنهم كانوا يدفنون البنات أحياء، قال الله تعالى: {وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ}. [التكوير:8]. قال النَّبي ﷺ: "من ولدت له ابنة، فلم يئدها، ولم يهنها، ولم يؤثر ولده عليها -يعني الذَّكر- أدخله الله بها الجنَّة". (أحمد).
Official Transcript (English)
One of the evils of the pre-Islamic people of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) was that they used to bury girls alive. Allah said: {And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked [for what sin she was killed].} [At-Takwir: 8]. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'He who had a daughter and did not bury her alive, nor did he humiliate her, nor did he prefer his son over her, Allah will enter him into Paradise.' (Ahmad).
