Yes, it is recommended and is part of noble character. When Ka'ab ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) was given the good news of his repentance, he said: 'I took off my two garments and gave them to him to wear because of the good news he brought.' (Agreed upon).

نعم يستحبُّ وهو من مكارم الأخلاق، وحين بُشر كعب بن مالك -رضي الله عنه- بتوبته، قال: نزعت له ثوبيَّ فكسوته إيَّاهما ببشراه. (متَّفق عليه).
