نعم، يشرع ذلك، وقد عاد النَّبيُّ ﷺ ابن ابنته زينب، فرفع الصَّبي في حجر النَّبي ﷺ ونفسه تقعقع، ففاضت عينا النَّبيُّ ﷺ. (متفق عليه).

Yes, it is prescribed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) visited the son of his daughter Zaynab. The child was lifted into the lap of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while his soul was rattling [in his chest], and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) eyes overflowed with tears. (Agreed upon).
